Yesterday, Capcom released the multiplayer demo for the upcoming
release of Bionic Commando exclusively on the Xbox 360. After a few
hours with the demo, it seems an impression is needed. But will this
demo give a good enough idea of the game over all? There is no real way
to tell until the full game is released. However, is this demo good
enough to interest others to purchase the game? The only way to find
out is to play the game.
First and foremost it should be known
that this is a multiplayer demo. It in no way shows content from the
singleplayer game. Secondly, this is by no means a review. This is
simply my impressions of the demo release on April 29, 2009. In the
future I would like to review the final product, but until then please
enjoy these impressions.
Characters look like generic NPCs with only the color of their suits to show distinction. In some ways this may have made it easier for the demo to get released, but it creates an uncomfortable feel at first glance. My initial reaction was to simply hope the final release would look better. This reaction was also escalated by the maps lighting or lack of light all together. The map chosen for this demo “Vertigo”, is a multi leveled area set on the rooftop of a skyscraper in the dead of night. This darkness instantly hurts the demo. While the look of the map isn't bad, I would like to see what I'm doing. Making the level this dark and hidden just seems lazy. It's as if the developers have something to hid. On the other hand, the level has all the elements needed to create a demo worth playing and introduce many needed aspects of Bionic Commando. You can swing from one end of the level to another and perfect this technique before the release of the game. Also the weapons introduced in the demo give a perfect idea of whats to come in the final game. Even with the issues I had with this demo, I can't wait to see the final release. The Bionic Command demo is a must have for anyone with an Xbox 360. If you have the means I do suggest you download it posthaste. |
