The long-awaited follow-up to Nintendo’s acclaimed Golden Sun GBA RPGs is on the horizon, and today Nintendo pinned down a release date for the DS title – November 29. It’s been more than 7 years since the last adventure, but the game looks to be worth the wait of any Golden Sun fan. Taking place 30 years after the original games, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn starts with players trying to rescue a lost friend but quickly escalates to the group trying to save the world from destruction. Along the way, players can gather over 70 djinn which provide the characters with magical abilities, both in and out of combat, and can help with fighting monsters, exploring the surroundings, and solving puzzles. Once again, Golden Sun: Dark Dawn will be available for the Nintendo DS on November 29. For more information on the game, go to www.nintendo.com. |

Are you attending the Penny Arcade Expo out in Seattle this year? Are you interested in getting some hands-on time with some of Nintendo’s upcoming titles? If your answer to both of those questions is ‘Yes’, then stop by Nintendo’s booth, #352. Coming off an E3 that made many a Nintendo fan giddy with anticipation, the big N will follow up with a showing at PAX that will let attendees get the first shot at playing games like Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and see the debut of the WiiWare title Fluidity. Activision and EA will each have a presence at Nintendo’s booth with playable versions of GoldenEye 007 and NBA Jam, respectively. Metroid: Other M promises to have a big presence there too, with playable demos plus a showcase of some of the props used in the live-action commercial for the game, which releases August 31. Any Dragon Quest IX players attending the show should bring their copy of the game and a DS with them – Nintendo is offering a special “Orgodemir” map through the game’s ‘Tag Mode’ feature. After snagging your free map, you’ll then be able to relax in a themed lounge and meet other DQIX players; the lounge will be on the 4th level of the building in the North Lobby. PAX will be held from 9/3-9/5 in Seattle; for more information on the show, visit the website at www.paxsite.com. For additional info on any of the games Nintendo is bringing to the show, go to www.nintendo.com. |

When a game gets a great response on XBLA, its next is normally the PC.
Recently it was announced that the hit downloadable title musical
puzzler Chime, will make is PC debut at the end of this summer with a
little help from Steam.
Not only is this game gearing up for a
huge release on the PC but this will also work as a fundraiser for both
charity partners Starlight Children’s Foundation and Save the Children.
“We
are very pleased with Chime’s performance on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox
360 and want to thank Zoe Mode for their creativity and generosity,”
said Martin de Ronde, Director of OneBigGame. “The game has proven to be
a great fund-raiser, a quality game in its own right and possibly the
basis for a unique, new franchise for Zoe Mode beyond our exclusivity
period.”
This is one of the most interesting games of the last
year. First the game was build pro bono by the UK based developer Zoe
Mode, for OneBigGame and now the game has done so well it’s hitting a
second platform. But still that’s not everything. On the PC the game
will also receive a new track, the Portal classic “Still Alive.” It
seems there nothing this game can’t do. Except, venture over to PSN.
Which I hope will come soon than later.
More screen shots after the jump.

As development of Call of Duty: Black OPS continues, a message was left
on the Black OPS forums that has both gamers and modders excited. The
post, named “modtools and dev console: confirmed” indicates that the
game will allow for modders to alter the game.
There’s no really
solid information on the subject but Treyarch wanted to let everyone
know that the game will be ready for mods, after the initial release. As
for now, Treyarch is focused on completing the game.

What do Kanye West, Metallica, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have in common? Well, if you’ve been paying attention (and reading the headlines), you can guess – correctly - they’re all part of the track list Activision unveiled today for DJ Hero 2. These 3 artists represent a fraction of the musicians featured on the 105-song list confirmed for the game. Some of the other notable names and songs include Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Eminem’s “Not Afraid”, plus classics like “O.P.P.” from Naughty By Nature. "If you simply listened to all these songs we've handpicked to include in the game, you would recognize what an amazing soundtrack they would make," said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs, Activision. "But when you hear them after the FreeStyleGames DJs give them the exclusive DJ Hero mix treatment, you understand why we think DJ Hero 2 offers an unprecedented music experience." FreeStyleGames’ on-hand DJs, along with other notable DJs like Deadmau5 and Tiesto, will spin these tracks in to over 80 unique mixes for gamers to enjoy in various ways, like multiplayer ‘Party Play’ games modes, including new ones like DJ Battle which will use mixes designed specifically for this type of competitive play. Besides mixing beats, the game also supports microphones so you can drop some vocals if you’re not comfortable on the tables. The biggest addition may be the single player ‘Empire Mode’, which will task budding DJs to go from rags to riches using their scratching and turning skills. When DJ Hero 2 hits stores for all consoles on October 19, they’ll also have some choice as to what to buy – for those new to the series, a ‘Party Bundle’ containing 2 turntables, a microphone, and a copy of the game, will be available. Returning players can choose between a turntable/game bundle or just the standalone software. No prices were announced yet. Activision also announced the “Name That Mix” challenge. Featured on the Facebook page for the game, the game will feature a new super-mixed video every week. Players will have to name all of the music used to create the mix, with the winners getting prizes like trips to see DJ Hero 2 artists perform live and professional DJ equipment. The challenge will run until September 20th and will feature more than 275 prizes up for grabs. Rated T for Teen, DJ Hero 2 will be available October 19th for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Wii. You can get more info at www.djhero.com, www.facebook.com/djhero or www.twitter.com/djhero. The full track list is here after the jump. |

In a title that could serve as a history lesson for all the young ‘uns today, Atari announced Atari’s Greatest Hits: Volume 1 to appear exclusively on the Nintendo DS. The compilation will include 50 games from Atari’s storied catalogue, including Adventure, Asteroids, Centipede, Missile Command, and more. Atari promises classic-style gameplay tailored for the DS, with the bigger addition being single-card play for 20 of the titles, such as Space Duel and Pong, and multi-card play for the head-to-head titles. Some of the other neat extras planned to be included are the original manuals for all of the titles, plus a trivia game dealing with Atari history that will let you post your high scores to the web. “The 50 games featured in Atari’s Greatest Hits: Volume 1 have defined a generation of casual gamers” said Jim Wilson, President of Atari, Inc. “By adding a new single cartridge multiplayer mode to such games as Pong, Space Duel and Outlaw, we continue to find new ways to expand our brands to a new generation of gamers.” Atari’s Greatest Hits: Volume 1 is being developed by Atari with help from Code Mystics. It’s been rated E by the ESRB and will hit shelves this fall. To see if any of the games slated for inclusion really pique your interest, check out the full list of games after the jump. |

When we review Monday Night Combat, there were no complaints about the
wait time between matches. In fact to this point there was very little
concern throughout the community over the time it look for a match to
start. This is didn’t stop Uber Entertainment from being proactive and
making their hit title a little bit better.
In a recent post on
the Uber forums revealed some patch points that will be implemented as
they start using their MNC Live Update System. But before we start
talking about the patch and the its fixes lets go over the MNC Live
Update System.
Unlike other games where a full patch is needed to
make any change from the smallest of adjustments to the biggest
corrections, Uber Entertainment can use the MNC Live Update System to
make small adjustments. These tweaks can change the timing of a level or
the time between matches. For game server admins this a common set of
options for a PC title but on the Xbox 360 it might come across as a new
concept.
Now back to the “changes.” I call them changes because
this isn’t a full out patch it’s only a few minor server side
adjustments. These changes include the following:
-Time between Crossfire matches changed from 60 to 45 seconds
-minimum number of players needed to start Crossfire changed from 8 to 6
-custom bot spawner timer changed from 5 to 10 seconds.
-changed message of the day.
Later
a full a patch will be released for the game but for now, just be happy
with the game and the current alterations. If you’re not happy with
them, voice your concerns at the Uber Fourms.
