S2 games today, officially announced their third game, Heroes of Newerth. This new multiplayer title is directly inspired by the highly popular Defense of the Ancients. Player will be able to control a single hero unit in an RTS like environment as two teams of up to five players’ battle. The game will also have improved graphics and unlike DotA, Heroes of Newerth will have built-in VOIP.

There are few mods that interest as many people as Defense of the Ancients. This Warcraft 3 mod is beginning to inspire more and more games and now S2 games, makers of Savage and Savage 2 are making their own version of DotA. Let hope this game is as good as its predecessor.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Independent game developer S2 Games is finally breaking the silence and officially announcing its highly anticipated third title, Heroes of Newerth (HoN). HoN, a session-based, multiplayer, Action-RPG, is heavily inspired by the popular Warcraft 3 mod, Defense of the Ancients (DotA), but with vast improvements in graphics and gameplay. Heroes of Newerth is currently in closed beta and will be available to the public in Q4 2009 on Windows, MAC and Linux for $30.00 (USD).

In Heroes of Newerth, two teams of up to five players each take on the role of a special Hero unit. With the assistance of AI-controlled armies, each team sets out with the sole objective of destroying the other team’s base. As a match progresses, players can earn experience and gold which can be used to upgrade skills or purchase items to make their character more powerful. The team-oriented design of HoN coupled with unprecedented in-game Voice-Over-IP controls and Clan Support allow for an incredibly deep, tactical team-based experience.

S2 Games is best known for its critically acclaimed online multiplayer Savage franchise (Savage: The Battle for Newerth and Savage 2: A Tortured Soul), which created the RTSS (real-time strategy-shooter) genre.
